As a part of his 2009 World Tour, Paul van Dyk (PvD), the legendary East-German electronic dance producer, has once again made New York City his main New Year’s Eve party spot. On Thursday, Dec 31, 2009, PvD will welcome 2010 with a lengthy set at the Roseland Ballroom before immediately jetting off to Montréal for more early morning revelry. PvD has remixed and collaborated for artists including Pussycat Dolls, Talking Heads, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Depeche Mode and sold over three million albums sold. For last year’s New Year’s Eve, PvD played an epic set at Barra Beach, Rio de Janeiro for just over one million people. We chased after this titan of the dance floor for a few comments on what it’s like to rule the nightlife.

Formerly executive chef at the decadent GILT restaurant, chef Christopher Lee recently re-opened Charlie Palmer's legendary at its new location in the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park (that's him in the photo above at right, Palmer smiling paternally at left). The Top Chef Masters competitor talks about manning the kitchen as executive chef at Aureole, his modest perspectives, and having a green thumb. Aureole will beoffering a 15% discount on all menus until the grand opening benefit gala for Citymeals-on-Wheels on September 15.

DJ to the stars Cassidy Podell started on the turntables in fifth grade. Since battling club owners for entry into venues (to work, of course) as a teen, the UES-born mixmaster now works with a list of clients on the level of: P Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Jay Z, Kanye West, Oprah, Barack Obama, and Mariah Carey. And if that's not enough, the 27-year-old has recently discovered and produced new club-track sensation O'Neil McKnight (the album drops later this year). Cassidy acquaints us with humble beginnings, a first meeting with P Diddy, and his rom-com guilty pleasure.
