When I arrived late to a brunch at Le Caprice yesterday, gentlemanly host Zac Posen interrupted his meal mid-bite to graciously welcome me to his affair. I was already riding high with anxiety—arriving late only to discover that the room was filled with the most recognizable faces in the fashion and journalism worlds. But his warm welcome, combined with the fact that I was about to enjoy some mid-day cocktails courtesy of Belvedere Bloody Mary, put me immediately at ease.

Good news: Target is bringing back 34 looks from their GO International Designer Collection, meaning collaborations with the likes of Rodarte, Zac Posen, and Proenza Schouler! Bad News: Although it features 17 designer collaborations, and yes, some from our favorites, we can't help but feel there's still something to be desired. For one, they're all dresses, which means we'll have to stick to eBay for that Jean Paul Gaultier moto jacket, Mulberry crossbody, and McQ Alexander McQueen anything.

From her red-and-white polka dot mini dress, black stockings, and over-sized yellow pumps, Minnie Mouse has become the most famous style icon in animation. Originally designed in 1920s flapper-style, the fashion-forward Disney character has been a trendsetter for nearly a century (and not just as a Halloween costume for tots and tweens). In 2008, Minnie took on NYC Fashion Week as part of Zac Posen’s memorable ready-to-wear collection, where models walked down the runway with black pom-poms in their hair like mouse ears. More recently, Mickey’s better half has made an appearance in Forever 21’s 2010 holiday collection as “Minnie Muse."

Diffusion lines are no longer just for big-name designers and internationally recognized fashion houses. In fact, lower-priced lines are fast becoming as essential for budding designers as independently run e-commerce sites. Zac Posen launched his, Z Spoke, just last year, while Alexander Wang has not one but two lower-priced brand extensions. Vena Cava is following suit with a t-shirt-centric line for FW10 called Viva Vena. Rad Hourani has had the same idea too. Now, news has it London-based designer and sometimes television host Henry Holland is expanding his namesake brand in the same way.

Zac Posen's lower-priced collaboration for Target may not be hitting stores until Sunday, but the preview pop-up that Target launched in Manhattan yesterday has already been picked clean. In far less than the 24 hours it was slated to be open the store sold of nearly all of its small sizes. Of the sale yesterday Racked NY said, "Don't bother. What was great is gone; what's left isn't so great." Or, in other words: "many froofy party dresses that feel like they should cost $25 but cost $80. A red leather motorcycle jacket that would almost be cute if it wasn't $200." The fact that Posen's collection is a bit higher-priced than many parallel collabs has been a point of contention for some shoppers since price points were released. But, if the sales in NYC yesterday are any indication, if you're still looking to land styles from the line you'd best get to shopping early.
