Lee Pace had me at “Hello.” Or, rather, the film equivalent, which was 2006’s The Fall. Spectacularly strange and visually arresting, that movie made an instant devotee out of me. Though the tall, dark, and handsome actor had been in the biz for a few years prior to this weird and wonderful discovery, I’ve followed the 33-year-old’s trajectory ever since—and re-watched The Fall more than a few times.

It seems like each story about blockbuster megahit The Avengers is more unbelievable than the last, and with weekend box office estimates trickling in today, that's not going to change anytime soon. When was the last time you made $1 billion in 10 days? Oh, never? Sucks to be you!

Loathe him or hate him, Ashton Kutcher was chosen to play the equally divisive Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic about the life of the late Apple co-founder. Irrespective of the fact most people think Kutcher is either an unfunny hack, a jerk, or both, many eyebrows were raised when the Jobs casting news was announced earlier this year. People just couldn't see Kutcher playing Jobs. Now, they can!

Hunger Games, schmunger games! After a record-shattering $207 million three-day opening last week, Disney's superhero blockbuster The Avengers made an estimated $29.1 million yesterday, which puts it on track to do a mind-boggling $100 million in its second weekend.

Marvel's superhero hodgepodge, The Avengers, was a bonafide hit with moviegoers yesterday, as audiences packed theaters nationwide and helped the film rake in $80.5 million, making its opening day rank second only to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2's $91.1 on the all-time list. Now there's talk of the film besting Potter's record $169 million opening weekend.

Judd Apatow's sequel of sorts to Knocked Up, The Five-Year-Engagement, opened in theaters yesterday to an even-less-than-expected $3.7 million at the U.S. box office. And it didn't even have Katherine Heigl!
