After initial backlash against the movie pre-release, Bridesmaids director Paul Feig reveals that Twitter played a vital role in the success of his movie.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter set to appear on newsstands December 2nd Feig admits that after initial response to the female-centric comedy drew ire for its trailer he spent several days collecting positive Twitter reponses to the movie before its release just so that he could get an idea of how the film was to actually perform; as opposed to the online backlash that the trailer was getting at the time for being (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'just another Apatow comedy'. The comedy went on to gross well over $200m in the U.S. as well as performing extremely well overseas, so maybe Twitter is the way to go! Or maybe it's just a place for people to talk about sandwiches and Justin Bieber. Maybe it's a combination of all three. Either way, if you haven't already seen the fantastic Bridesmaids be sure to watch it.
And maybe tweet your review. You never know who's watching.
