imageWith her dark days well behind her, Britney Spears is on the up-and-up career-wise -- and all is right and good in the world. So it's baffling why she'd want to revisit her tumultuous past by taking her most challenging acting role since Crossroads. But in a film that documents only the lowest lows (well, just the interesting bits anyway), Spears will portray herself. The film will track everything from the time she shaved her head to everything else that happened afterward.

Directing the project will be Phil Griffin, whose storied and prolific credits include a Donny Osmond concert documentary and most Amy Winehouse music videos (coincidence?). But with the film said to be quite "dark and gritty," Spears should've optioned the project to someone like Darren Aronofsky or Christopher Nolan.
