You’ve probably already heard that Conan is taking his show on the road. Bound by his exit contract from NBC (that came with a $33 million severance check) to stay off the air until fall, Conan’s booked a 30-city live comedy & music revue dubbed “The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour” that has already sold out a number of big-time venues like Radio City Music Hall. Now, in what is perhaps an even more interesting development, it seems Conan has found another contract loophole to exploit.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Conan is in early talks to make a feature-length documentary of the upcoming tour. Though nothing’s set in stone just yet, financiers and a potential director (TV's Rodman Flender) are already in the mix. Since the road show was cooked up as a way to keep Conan’s staff -- many of whom uprooted from NYC to LA only to watch the Late Show gig founder -- busy, one hopes they’ll see something out of this as well. Not that I’m necessarily convinced the movie is that terrific of an idea, mind you. I have a hard time thinking scads of people will want to pay at the multiplex (presuming a theatrical release, that is) to see what they normally get for free at home. And with Conan looking like he may already be close to inking a late-night deal with Fox, well, the picture would have to promise way, way more than the usual television enticements.

That said, Conan doesn't lack for acting chops. The man has been doing sketches for decades, and as you can see below was even cast in the hit TV series Lost, where he showed off his impressive dramatic range. (OK, so, both those foregoing statements are jokes.) Nevertheless, the man is an audience magnet, so don't take his thespianic skills lightly.
