Upcoming movie we're excited about: The Untitled Sam Mendes/Dave Eggers/Vendela Vida/John Krasinski/Maya Rudolph project. Allow us to decode. Dave Eggers, the celebrated mind behind the McSweeney's imprint (they say things like "senryu and pantoums") and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, has joined forces with Vida, his wife and the author of Let The Northern Lights Erase Your Name, to pen a screenplay. In fact, it's already been penned, and Sam Mendes—director of American Beauty and Jarhead—has decided to take that ink and turn it into moving pictures!
What's more is that John Krasinski—who, granted, has had a tough time outside the confines of his "Office" (remember License to Wed? Neither do we.)—has signed on to costar with Rudolph, who is ready to plunge into the great post-"SNL" expanse. (She did not return after the writer's strike, which apparently happened recently.) The comedy follows an expectant couple who travel across the country in search of a place to settle down. The only way this project can get any better is if, somehow, by the power invested in casting agents everywhere, Cheryl Hines joins the cast. Oh, wow. She just did. —B.B.
