imageToday, Tyler Perry's latest, Madea Goes to Jail is released in theaters, and the movie is expected to be the number-one draw at the weekend box office. A few hours ago, by strange coincidence, I received an urgent message out of the blue from my old friend and NYU roommate Peter Scalettar, a filmmaker who now lives in LA and produces ABC's The Bachelor. The email read: "I need to speak with Tyler Perry ASAP. any contact info on him? I have a new Madea movie for him. Whattup yo? How you living? - Peter J. Scalettar, Director/DP." As an ardent fan of Perry's Madea films and an admirer of Scalettar's work since he was planting dildos and porn in kids' bedrooms as the director of MTV's Room Raiders, I was intrigued. So I asked for more info. The appropriately ghetto press release/pitch, in case the King of Black Movies happens to be reading BlackBook this evening, after the jump.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles - Filmmaker Peter Scalettar is taking the Tyler Perry hit series of Madea films to a new level with his Love potion number 9 Madea style:

Funky Cold Madea

It is a 104 degree summer day in Atlanta, and Jahim (Nick Cannon) is on his way home from work at the local Best Buy. The bus is crowded, the air conditioning is broken, and Madea makes her way over, looking for somewhere to sit. As Jahim looks up to offer his seat to the portly Madea, a drop of sweat plummets from her chin (one of them) and lands in Jahim's eye, instantly transforming him into the player extraordinaire -- forced to fight women off every where ever he goes ... But when the powers start to wear off, how will Jahim track down Madea and her magical glands? Hilarity ensues in this madcap comedy as Cannon and Perry play off of each other in ways that haven't been seen since Pauly Shore and that religious Baldwin brother teamed up.
