Despite valiant attempts by Kim Cattrall and the glorious emirate of Dubai to kill production on Sex & the City: Episode II - Attack of the Crones, the show must go on. Horrible stereotypes and expectations about women and gay men must be perpetuated! Also, shoes, shoes, cosmos, clumsy puns, lowered expectations, and more shoes! And if you're wondering, the S&TC gang got around that Dubai kink by shooting in Morocco instead. Morocco, where saffron is so widely available that you can't blame the dames for using it as a stand-in for the Arab Emirate. So it's with some resignation we meet the sequel's tell-tale teaser poster.

So what can we learn from it? A whole lot or nothing at all, really:

● Perhaps, the fearless foursome die. And, as indicated by the preponderance of white imagery in this poster, this sequel tracks their freewheeling antics behind those pearly gates. ● Alternately, the film could explore a literal exploration of the concept of gentrification as the "whitewashing" of New York City. ● It is released in May 2010. ● S&TC auteur Michael Patrick King thought it best to imagine this follow-up as a period piece, as a reminder to Americans about sunnier times when we all had cash to burn and shoes to buy. Hence, the gold! The gold clutch purse, the gold heels, and the gold aviators. ● "Carrie On" as this teaser's tagline suggests that perhaps in this installment, our heroines have been transformed into robots. The tag-line ensures that yes, Carrie Bradshaw has been switched on and programmed for a Manolo Blahnik-assisted rampage. ● Or most simply, judging by this:

Perhaps S&TC 2 could be trying to position itself as a consumerist rethinking of Angels In America, with SJP assuming Emma Thompson's role. We're so sorry, Tony Kushner.
