imageSantogold is a mercurial music collective whose only mainstay seems to be longtime collaborator, singer, and songwriter Santi White (pictured left). "We began trying to write pop songs to sell, which made us depressed." she says. "So we started writing songs for ourselves instead." Like the music itself, Santogold fans come in all kinds. From his radio show in the United Arab Emirates capital city of Abu Dhabi, Michael Jackson played their first bootleg, while rumor has it that Libyan ruler Muammar al-Gaddafi was seen rocking their tracks "as he entered an international summit in the Nigerian capital of Abuja." As they continue to gain momentum, they've begun working with everyone from Björk and Mark Ronson, to Spank Rock and Diplo. Their new album is out on April 22nd. Check them out here! —N.H.
