It was early in the evening when the brothers Felice (Ian, James, and Simone, with a blood brother on bass) took the stage in the former house of the Lord, which converted more recently to a den of Sin. The ragged band of brethren proved that they are likely to take the mantle as the next Great American Storytellers, with verse evoking a meeting of Dylan and John Prine. It was an authentic saloon-stompin set, even if the crowd stood still. We hear CMJ is a bunch of stiffs, yelled out the man at the kit. Silence (perhaps approval). Well, take off your badges and dance. Exactly. D.C.
