Before even having a record out, Florida quintet the Black Kids were catapulted in to the spotlight by a music press captivated by their live performances and their Cure-meets-frat-boy-and-sunshine sound. When they finally did release their full-length album Partie Traumatic, it debuted at #5 on the UK charts and ended the year topping best-of lists. The question, then, is where do the kids go from there? Well, they’re currently running a contest for you to have them play at your house party (where they’ll probably not teach your boyfriend how to dance with you), and they’re releasing a vinyl limited-edition of their EP Wizard of Ahhhs on April 18 in honor of Record Store Day. Oh, and they’re on tour Mates of State, hitting the Music Hall of Williamsburg this Sunday and Webster Hall on Monday. But first, lead singer Reggie Youngblood tells us about sleeping in his Snuggie, his love for the year 1988, and guilty feelings about sex in our decidedly childlike Pop Quiz.
