It might still be too early to say, since every celebrity gets nabbed for drunk driving once in a while—but is there a chance that Christina Aguilera might replace the hole the Charlie Sheen will inevitably leave in our hearts? The singer was arrested in West Hollywood this morning for public intoxication and being “unable to take care of herself.” Christina and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, were pulled over around 2:45am. Her bail was set at $250 for public intoxication, while Rutler’s bail was set at $30,000 for driving under the influence. A little DUI is nothing to really gossip about these days, but is this only the beginning for Aguilera? Let's take a look at her recent past to assess.
In January, she crashed Jeremy Renner’s 40th birthday party, got wasted, and passed out in his bed. According to Renner: "Someone comes and tells me she's in my room. I run up and open the door and I'm like, 'Um, hi. What are you doing?' She just starts slurring. Her boyfriend [Matthew Rutler] was rubbing her back. Who comes to someone's birthday party that they don't know and gets in their bed?! My parents were there!"
She followed that by botching the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, defending the performance with, “"I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place.”
Sure, these could all be a series of unfortunate events. But does anyone remember this?
