Like it or not, the world revolves around money. On his new single “Pieces Of Paper,” Portland rapper/producer Sapient shares his somber take on the necessity of getting money. The Aesop Rock and Macklemore collaborator sounds world-weary but not yet defeated as he rhymes over his clattering, piano-heavy beat.

The video takes a fairly literal interpretation, showing Sapient’s dreams of cash while working various menial tasks. It’s a shout out to everyone who still has a day job, also known as most of the people you know.

Sapient’s forthcoming album Slump will be released February 19 on Camobear Records.
