Brace yourselves Middle America, because if the world doesn’t actually end tomorrow, rappers are probably going to take over the U.S. government. This week, State Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno took the floor at a budget meeting to explain her stance on deficit woes, and made her point by reciting the lyrics to Wu-Tang’s “C.R.E.A.M.” Essentially, everything the Wu told us back in 1994 has remained true: It’s really all about the dolla dolla bills, ya’ll.
“Some of you may know that last night Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan was in town,” Radogno told her peers. “And I got some financial advice from him which I would like to share with all of you, ’cause it does seem quite relevant.”
Radogno then proceeded to recite a lesson from the 2003 "Wu-Tang Financial" skit on Chapelle’s Show: “The most precious thing in the world is financial security and well being of your family. You want to send your little ones to the best school and in the end you want to know you’ve left them with peace of mind. Nowadays we all know that cash rules everything around us, C.R.E.A.M. get the money dolla, dolla bills, y’all.”
It’s unclear whether Radogno really had a heart-to-heart with The Chef over Illinois’ budget issues, or if she was just in the mood to binge on past episodes of Chapelle’s Show—but either way, point made.
