High on the list of things we hate are sharing sandwiches, cloud computing, and the third of the month. But most of all, we hate admitting when we're wrong. Last night, news surfaced about Kanye West's first-week sales for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and it's forcing us to partake in that last hateful activity in a very, very big way.
Before the album's release last week, we wrote a brief manifesto detailing five reasons why West's new record will come close to or surpass the million-mark in sales. We were certain of it. Then, during his show-capping rant at last week's Bowery Ballroom concert, West let slip that sales were projected at 600,000. Not a shabby number for 2010, but nowhere near the million we predicted. So, the actual number? 496,000, according to Nielsen Soundscan. So yeah, we were way off. We hate that.
