Leonard Cohen is 77 years old and still going strong. He's set to release a new album titled Old Ideas which is streaming at NPR, naturally. When discussing the songs last week at a London hotel, he remarked, “You know, I don’t have that many ideas.” So, you know, it's that type of laissez-faire, I'm-cooler-than-shit attitude you're walking into. Fine by me.

Cohen's not exactly reinventing his brooding sonic palette at his age, but if you'll like this new material if you've enjoyed his previous work. If his voice sounds froggier than usual, it's because he stopped smoking a few years ago, which has that side effect of making you sound like Tom Waits. Oh Leonard, why bother? Lung cancer or not, death will find us all. Old Ideas comes out on January 31.
