Miss Maja Ivarsson is true to her word. When we chatted a few weeks ago, she extended an invite to see her performance with The Sounds for a David Letterman taping. (Airs tonight.) Not soon enough, I found myself taking the subway uptown to Broadway and 54th. Coincidentally, I was seated next to The Sounds’ tour bus driver, Eugene, who thankfully ended up being my buddy throughout the show. I told him about my invite, and all he could say was, “Maja’s the woman! She gives me a big hug every day to say hello.” (Maja is the epitome of a blond bombshell with a huge heart.)

Afterward, I caught up with Maja outside her tour bus parked on 53rd Street -- Eugene led the way -- and chatted about her current whirlwind tour. Apparently the band is taking a short break from opening up for No Doubt and heading off the Europe for wee bit of time. In her sexy Swedish accent, she shared, “We’re going to play a bunch of festivals -- the first one is the Hurricane Festival in Germany, and then we’re going to Sweden and Finland for a bunch more.” Around mid-July, The Sounds will link up again with No Doubt for the West Coast leg. “I’m going to miss this tour with No Doubt though! It’s been so much fun. I’m looking forward to returning in a few weeks.”

I thanked Maja again for such a treat and hoped we could link up again on her next visit to New York. She and her bandmates then climbed aboard their bus and waved goodbye. Ta-ta for now.
