Tina Turner, bless her, has been hiding away in Switzerland for years, living a comfortable, quiet life in Kuesnacht, a suburb outside of Zurich. The lady has been through it all, and she's quietly retreated from the music industry, albeit unofficially and without the fanfare of other entertainers of her generation who have parlayed their retirement into decade-long tours. It seems appropriate, then, that she plans on giving up her U.S. passport and citizenship in favor of one in her adopted home country.

According to Fox News:

Turner has lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht since the mid-1990s. The local Zuerichsee-Zeitung newspaper said on its website the local council announced its decision to grant the 73-year-old Turner citizenship in an official notice published in Friday's edition.

The decision still requires formal approval from state and federal authorities.

Turner's rep told Zuerichsee-Zeitung  the singer wanted to "clarify her situation".

"Tina Turner will therefore also give back her US citizenship," she said.

You know what? Good for her! Tina Turner deserves a little me-time. We'll always have our memories of her, our very own private dancer. Let's take a little trip through the past and watch her strut her stuff, shall we? I watch this clip from Playboy After Dark about three times a week for my own mental health; I suggest you do the same!
