Voxtrot’s leading man cannot sit still. Like a child with an unfortunate case of Attention Deficit Disorder, Ramesh Srivastava moves flippantly from guitar to piano without missing a beat. But apparently he’s not moving enough. “Sorry everyone, I really want to be doing more, but I just had this little knee surgery.”

At the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Ramesh filled the room with his infectious energy, as his band bopped happily alongside, flowing through tracks from Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives, Raised by Wolves, and their new self-titled album. They even found time to dedicate a song to Cassie (not that we’re jealous, but just who the hell is Cassie?). Despite having canceled several previous tour dates due to Ramesh’s “little knee surgery,” Voxtrot kicked the CMJ week off right, nixing an encore performance and instead inviting everyone to party with them downstairs. We RSVP'ed immediately and hung out while Ramesh expended the rest of his boundless energy at the turntable.
