Lukewarm off the release of her hot new single (not sure if I got that right), Christina Aguilera announced last night that she's decided to postpone her upcoming summer "Bionic Tour" until 2011. Live Nation, the tour's promoter, offered reasons for the postponement: "Christina Aguilera’s summer tour has been moved to 2011 due to prior commitments that the singer had made to her film, 'Burlesque,' and to the promotion of her new album, 'Bionic.'" Right. Because, usually, when you're planning an elaborate 20 date summer tour, you don't start by making sure that the star of your tour has her schedule free. That's just How To Plan An Elaborate Summer Tour 101, Mike. Show business!

News of the tour cancellation follows nearly a month of bad press associated with Aguilera's latest project. Although the lead single from Bionic, 'Not Myself Tonight,' premiered on the Billboard Hot 100 at an impressively high 23, it fell to number 49 in its second week, prompting RCA to quickly release a follow up track, 'WooHoo,' that has been poorly received. The project faced additional stress when the video for 'Not Myself Tonight' was unfavorably compared to, oh, Lady GaGa's entire ouvre, prompting the internet to mock Xtina mercilessly.

When you combine the global recession, the fact that Christina has been out of the spotlight for several years, and the tepid public response to her latest material, it's easy to see why the upcoming tour might not have been selling well.
