My Tumblr is 7/10s animal photos and 3/10s GIFs. Emma Koenig's Tumblr called Fuck! I'm In My 20s is her own drawings about 20something realities like resume lies, hookups and tiny apartments. Scoff all you want at the white-whine nature of Koenig's doodles: they rang true for this 20something — and it's got her not only a book deal, but now an NBC sitcom.
Chronicle Books published F*ck! I'm In My 20s, seemingly tailor-made for the books table at Urban Outfitters, earlier this fall. This week Deadline Hollywood reported that the book/Tumblr are being developed into a half-hour comedy. Not bad for a 24-year-old who only started her Tumblr last year.
Fuck! I'm In My 20s is the second blog this week to get a TV deal: Hollywood Assistants, a GIF-reaction blog by, duh, assistants to Hollywood execs, was given a development deal by CBS.
I used to think I wanted my Tumblr to get a book deal, but now it's about getting your Tumblr a TV show. Christ.
