As we watched last night's Academy Awards ceremony, three things caught our good eye. First, it became clear that Daniel Day-Lewis and Colin Farrell called each other to coordinate matching hoop earrings. Second, we were sort of taken aback by how good Ellen Page cleans up. Third, we were shocked that Brad Renfro, who recently passed away, was omitted from the telecast's In Memoriam montage. The actor, who died of a heroin overdose on January 15th, starred in a number of critically-acclaimed films like Sleepers, Apt Pupil, and Ghost World. Why then wasn't his tragic death acknowledged? A representative for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tells USmagazine.com, "It was really an editing decision because we can't fit everyone in. There was no specific reason." That "editor," as far as we're concerned, should be ashamed. Ashamed and fired. —N.H.
