The Rodeo Drive Chanel boutique got a facelift from architect Peter Marino this summer, who also does Donna Karan, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi stores. It opened with a party for P.S. Arts, a trendy L.A. arts education charity, on Thursday night. All the usual suspects turned up: Rachel Bilson, Rachel Zoe, Kate Beckinsale (who refused to wear anything Chanel gave her but a couture dress worth well over fifteen grand), and more wealthy Bev Hills wives than you could stuff into Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, Cut (which is where the after party was).
Peter Marino's Village People S&M leather outfit (which might work in the deep West Village, but those BH ladies were shocked!) was a real traffic stopper. Chanel shoppers in the crowd were too busy examining everyone's jewels to pay attention to singer Cat Power, who did an amazing set that went wastedmostly because Bev Hills jeweler Martin Katz's wife Kelly was so loud nobody could hear her. Merle Ginsberg
