We’ll be the first to admit that his album promotion antics can be a little over the top, but no one can deny that Diddy does lux like the best of them. For his current family vacation, the mogul is shelling out approximately $850,000 per week – you know, lunch money – for a cruise on an iPad-controlled super yacht. Yeah. Don’t even think about browsing Mac’s new App Store for access to this technology. The custom-made software from German luxury yacht company Lurssen allows privileged passengers to remotely customize and control everything on board, just short of the steering wheel.
Diddy took his on-again-off-again girlfriend Kim Porter and their two daughters for a ride aboard Solemates, the first luxury yacht to offer the new iPad technology. The process is just as simple and nauseatingly fantastic as it sounds. Passengers are equipped with complimentary iPads, allowing them to control the ship’s temperature and entertainment systems, the lights and blinds in their individual cabins, and, most importantly, to order up necessary food or booze refills on command.
The iPad application’s homepage is also customizable to suit the preferences of each particular high-roller. So what might Diddy’s best customization option be? Luxury Yacht Group chartering agent Rupert Connor had the answer for CNN. "For instance, if we have a client who we know is a music industry bigwig, then we'll program the app's homepage to have a prominent shortcut to our high-speed media server's music library, and we'll do our research to make sure we have all the music they'd want to listen to."
The uber fabulous yacht also comes equipped with necessary toys, like jet-powered surfboards, inflatable floating trampolines, and a gym that converts into a disco -- nothing to scoff at, even without iPad control technology.
