Trump Soho, the 48-story mondo condo and hotel, is no longer opening its doors on February 1st (the new opening date has yet to be cemented or announced). However, buyers are still willing to ante-up $3,000 a square foot for condominium units that they can legally occupy only 120 days of the year. Somehow, they’ve already sold 555 of them. Chalk one up for The Donald Junior, the Executive VP Development and Acquisitions of the Trump brand, who speaks with BlackBook after the jump.

('DiggThis¹)Dayjob: Unofficially I’m the jack of all trades, from attaining financing to design, sales and marketing, acquisitions, everything you could imagine in the hotel, golf, commercial real estate fields and a lot of everything, including The Apprentice. Nothing takes a back seat, you just sleep a little less. The Trump Collection expansion is allowing an opportunity to get away from the large shadow cast by my father.

Newest plug: Trump Soho is an amazing hotel and the direction in which we want to take the brand. It’s a contemporary building designed by Handel Architects, with interiors by David Rockwell. It's young and hip, very different from what you’d see in a Trump building on the Upper East Side. We want to make sure the buildings have a a sense of place, contextual in the environment in which we’re building. There’s nothing more disappointing than when I stay in a hotel in Egypt, London or the Bahamas, and you still seem to be in the same hotel. We want all levels of service consistent throughout, but when you’re in the Bahamas you want to know you’re in the Bahamas. The guest experience is driven by that sense of being there.

Would dedicate his Oscar to: I attribute our stability to my parents and our grandparents. The goldfish bowl of New York City just meant experience for us. My maternal grandfather was from the Czech Republic and because of him, I speak the language fluently. I remember from an early age that having parents like mine was not the norm, but I never took things for granted. It would be asinine to say we weren’t spoiled, but we're well-educated, well cultured. Our parents made that a priority. We weren't spoiled in a financial way, we had drive and desire installed. We weren’t handed many things, and we always had to work towards a goal. I attribute a lot to [my parents]. It'd be odd for three children in that upbringing to be total disasters.

Racks up miles in: I spend a lot of time traveling, probably 35 to 40,000 miles a month. I’ve been in Scotland twice in Aberdeen, a hotel and incredible resort in the most pristine dunes with a golf complex and real estate development. Egypt, Dubai, India in the past three weeks. We’re looking at more and more in emerging markets. It’s a big opportunity to have the notoriety of the name.

Social calendar: I could have given you more information before I was married with two little monsters, but I think I have diverse taste in food. Because my mother was Eastern European, I can eat anything. If you’re from New York, you go to Peter Luger, Le Cirque , Jean Georges and Daniel. Growing up in a household like ours, we had chefs, and as a child, I didn’t like the idea of people working for me because I didn’t think I earned it, so I watched the chefs we had, and I’d duplicate it. Now, my wife and I cook all the time.

Biggest secret: I make an effort to stay out of the cit at least one day a week: I fly fish in the Catskills. I’m also a big motocross fan and outdoors man. If you’ve seen me in a suit; you’ll probably see me in my pick-up truck with a motorcycle strapped on the back.
