When he gave his already infamous Playboy interview, John Mayer probably didn't anticipate it culminating in an onstage, Kanye-esque rant mea culpa, but that's exactly what happened last night in Nashville. Mayer—who's been explaining himself all over Twitter ever since the controversy erupted—referenced his mystical (and now failed) "quest to be clever," and a very sci-fi-sounding "wormhole of selfishness" that he's apparently lost in. Then, he annoyingly announced that he's quitting "the media game" and the "soundbite game" which we all know isn't true, not until he deletes his Twitter account. And since the majority of the bile directed at Mayer was a result of him using the N-word, he made sure to introduce his mostly black band, just for good measure. The full, weepy video after the jump.
