image Dustin Curtis, 22-year old web designer, mud slinger, and general rabble rouser is throwing rocks at American Airlines. After hating his experience of booking a flight on AA.com, he decided to redesign the front page of aa.com in an attempt to show how different the site could be. His reasoning? "Your website is abusive to your customers, it is limiting your revenue possibilities, and it is permanently destroying the brand and image of your company in the mind of every visitor."

Harsh words, Mr. Curtis. Turns out he's not the only one who thinks AA.com sucks though; an internal UX designer agrees with Curtis. The anonymous designer responded to Curtis's challenge with a rather lengthy email detailing the corporate culture of American Airlines, and gently reminded Curtis that AA is in fact a giant corporation and doesn't exactly make change with the speed of lightning. Curtis, to his credit, doesn't buy that copout excuse and maintains that a high level of taste is vital to any company's continued success. Though I sympathize with the internal coder, I have to say the Curtis redesign is a big improvement. Check out the original site here, the redesigned site here, and all the follow-up here.
