On days like today, I feel especially old and count the silver hairs on my head. Because today, Selena Gomez finally starts her mighty ascent from Disney Channel tween queen to Hollywood Person of Interest. Selena Gomez is a person who sings or acts, or for all I know, she could be what caused the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 on Lost. But my ignorance won't last long, because the crafty Gomez has wheedled her way between the two Taylors and torn them asunder.

Disney didn't raise no fools. Except this one and this one. Regardless, Gomez is cunning and obviously well-schooled in physics, as she noted a force that was pulling Swift away from Lautner and the consequent vacuum that was created.

And that force? John Mayer, of course. Apparently Mayer solicited Swift to sing for him after reportedly developing a crush on her. Even though Swift rejected Mayer's creepy come-ons, she may prove to be his greatest battle study yet. A final reason to keep a close eye on this love quadrangle? Swift and Gomez are besties. There will be blood, tears and hair-pulling.
