Jeff Kleins Sunset Tower Hotel is hopping right now thanks to the view from the pool at Terrace Restaurantif you drink enough Grey Goose Mojitos (rum is way too fattening!), you might think youre in a cheaper St. Tropez. The other night, the Canadian duo Chip and Pepper launched a semi-cheap denim line. Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy showed, as did Rachel Bilson. Clearly, money changed hands. Its not the Waverly Inn, but its the L.A. equivalent, the average age topping out at 25 fine, 23. Dmitri, the maitre d at the Sunset Tower, is the man to see if you want to get seated near Tom Ford, Anna Wintour, or Betsy Bloomingdalethough they usually sit inside. Sean Penn occasionally floats through. So does Dan Aykroyd.
Meanwhile, turning the Regent Beverly Wilshire into a Four Seasons cutout has been phenomenal. The rooms look great, Wolfgang Pucks Cut restaurant is a real scene, and the BH crowd is drinking there after workafter years of dedicated drinking at the Four Seasons on Doheny.
Also coming: Bond Street sushi in the new Crescent Hotel via The Thompson Group is expected to open in the fall. Beverly Hills seriously needs an upscale sushi restaurant. There arent any great ones in the Golden Triangle. When Phillippe Starcks hotel opens (the old Meridian at LaCienega and San Vicente) it will have something like five new restaurantswere already drooling. Were never, never, sated.
