Featuring the combined talents of director David Fincher, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, and Jesse Eisenberg, The Social Network qualifies as one of fall’s more promising releases. I’ll admit to not knowing a great deal about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook, but the new teaser trailer pitches a story that’s heavy on drama. It also has zero footage from the film, which makes the spot unusually audio-driven. Check it out after the jump.
Although the lack of footage will surely register as a disappointment to some, I think the spot is nevertheless rather effective. It delivers a clear sense of the narrative, and makes you impatient for the visuals. The last, still image of Eisenberg the professionally awkward and apologetic actor into somewhat of a cunning sociopath. In fact, the whole thing is very reminiscent of another teaser that introduced us to a mad genius, Heath Ledger's Joker.
