Zipcar is sold out. Your hedge fund boyfriend no longer has that Hampton compound (or the hedge fund for that matter). The gas prices at the pump read as high as the price tag on your Louboutin pumps. You are city-bound this Memorial Day weekend. Luckily, so is half the city, and they're going to be out and about, enjoying all the local happenings sans traffic, suitcases, soaring fuel prices, and annoying mini-clubs. Here's a short list of events approved for your day life and your nightlife.

● Memorial Day in Times Square - Yes, Time Square. Noontime Monday, enjoy a screening of the musical On the Town in the middle of Broadway at 47th Street. You need not fear the crazy cabbies and road-raging tourists; the city is clearing traffic from Broadway to create a pedestrian-friendly summer venue. After the film, dodge people -- not Pontiacs -- and take a long walk over to Hudson Terrace for light bites and a summery rooftop view.

Roof Garden Café @ Metropolitan Museum of Art -- Sure, there's lots of art and stuff. But the real reason you're at the Met is to get tipsy on the roof. Look smart at this rooftop sculpture garden, but watch out -- tourists discovered it awhile back.

● Memorial Day Gala @ Tenjune- On Sunday, DJ Phresh spins to an open bar starting at the early club hour of 10pm. All these new faces lapping up free libations will make you feel like you did get out of Dodge, then you'll wonder how they made it past the velvet rope in the first place.

Lower East Side Festival of the Arts - Performers and artists abound for the 13th anniversary of this LES festival. Street fairs, dance, theater performances, live music, poetry readings, art presentations, and cooking competitions pepper the streets. When you've had your fill, take the short walk over to the Delancey roof deck. The Billyburg views will prove ideal for the special bridge lighting illuminating the bridge from 9pm to 11 pm through Memorial Day in honor of the Brooklyn Bridge's 125th birthday.

● Rooftop party at the Empire Hotel - A source says if you say "Nick GQ" at the door, you can access this open-air party for free tonight. I don't know who Nick GQ is, but thank you!
