A spy gives us the advance line on Elettaria, Akhtar Nawab’s Indian-Philippine fusion restaurant that opened last night: “Fantastic sommelier—down-to-earth, cool, not pretentious at all and didn’t upsell some ancient Bordeaux. Unfortunately, the food was lame, and they have a ways to go.” At least Nawab’s partner and wine enthusiast Noel Cruz is getting it right early. [photo]

All I have to say is ... this is my new favorite restaurant. Where else can you order something and end up being able to taste so many other things in ONE entree? I mean, look at the scallops. You might look at the description and think, how is that going to work together and then… it just does. I’ve never had oxtail before but ... in this dish… IT WORKS! Amazing creativity in this menu and the drinks are superb! I also love how cozy the place feels. You instantly enter into a relaxing atmosphere with friendly, knowledgable staff that genuinely wants to make the experience pleasurable for your entire party. They really hit the mark with this place! Well done.
