Au Revoir Simone, Still Night, Still Light (Our Secret Record Company) Brooklyn’s answer to Clotho, Atropos and Lachesis replant their hauntingly personal, bittersweet roots on the follow-up to 2007’s creepy-sweet The Bird of Music. Their third album is a symphony of sterilized electronic sounds brought to life by an intimate encounter between these three Fates and their keyboards. Despite the odd bramble of blunt confrontation (“Trace a Line”), Au Revoir Simone skips through the wet grass of ethereal romanticism (“Tell Me”), proving that they are still alright and, yes, still feather-light. -- Garrett Pruter

At the age of 15, A-Trak (born Alain Macklovitch) was a world championship DJ. Ten years later, he's toured the world as Kanye West's DJ and now heads up his own record label. The Montreal expat recently made the move to New York, closer to his brother (Chromeo's Dave 1) and his girlfriend (Chicago rapper Kid Sister). At 15, A-Trak was a world champion DJ. By 20, he was touring the world as Kanye West's mix master -- just the two of them on stage in front of thousands of people. Now, Montreal native Alain Macklovitch has branched out on his own to start Fool's Gold, his own record label who boasts artist like Chicago party-starting rapper Kid Sister (also his girlfriend) and Atlanta-based producer/DJ Treasure Fingers. No longer someone's else's DJ, A-Trak is turning the tables on what a scratch DJ can be with the release of his first proper disc, Running Man: Nike+ Original Run, a 45-minute piece of original music commissioned by Nike. I spoke to A-Trak from his new Williamsburg apartment about establishing himself as a producer, making people run, and getting a degree from Kanye U.
