These Restaurants Will Make You Thin

These Restaurants Will Make You Thin What are the thin people really eating? The British Journal of Nutrition just published a study this month saying that the trimmest people, those who weighed the lightest, flaunted the slimmest waists, and were proud owners of the smallest hip circumference, had the highest levels of omega 3 fatty acids in their blood. After investigating the commonality, I found that these people were in fact not freebasing flaxseed oil. They were, however, loading up on foods that were rich in omega 3s -- grass-fed beef, flaxseed, soy, salmon, etc. No one knows for sure what omega 3s do for the diet exactly ... they may stimulate hormones that make you feel full, and they have been shown to improve circulation, which can also aid in weight loss and reducing inflammation. Whatever the case, you can get slim while you dine in New York this weekend; head to a few of these "healthy" joints to load up on the good stuff.

First Look at Georgia Jagger’s Rimmel Pics Prove Kate Moss Stardom

First Look at Georgia Jagger’s Rimmel Pics Prove Kate Moss Stardom Coco Rocha, cute. Lily Cole, edgy. Sophie Ellis-Bextor, well she's nice enough I reckon. But really, the whole of America knows that it's all about Kate Moss, who basically carries the London cosmetics company in all of her "London Look" awesomeness. That is, until their recent signing of the baby-Bardot Georgia Jagger. It may be pure beauty blasphemy to say, but if anyone were to fill Moss' Louboutins, it would have to be the 17 year-old youngin' with enough low-key London DNA to keep her cool, but a widely recognized pedigree as the daughter of Rolling Stones rocker Sir Mick Jagger and supermodel Jerry Hall.

‘Vogue’ Editor Can’t Stop Anorexic Models from Showing Up, After All

‘Vogue’ Editor Can’t Stop Anorexic Models from Showing Up, After All "They have to be a little thinner than you and I because you always photograph a little fatter." Words of wisdom from Vogue fave Grace Coddington just as the holidays near. But this isn't a reminder from Coddington to put down the fork and do the head-tilt-turned-body-pose for holiday event pics taken by Patrick McMullan; this is Coddington's way of explaining how model anorexia comes to be. "Because they're kids, they take it too far, and they can't regulate their lives, and next thing you know they're anorexic, and it is tragic.” Her remarks come off the ripple-wave that the firing at Ralph Lauren created, a situation Coddington does not chide Lauren for. Instead, she thinks Ralph Lauren is getting too much bad publicity because most models at Ralph Lauren are not super skinny, and this is an isolated incident.

Early Cleanup for NYC Marathon Wasn’t Pretty

Early Cleanup for NYC Marathon Wasn’t Pretty Participating in the annual New York City Marathon is rewarding for both runners and non-runners. For men and women, the feat is inspiring in a time of financial trouble and peaks of national obesity. The race started off promising enough, with Meb Keflezighi's triumphant and touching win as an American runner, pushing New Yorkers encumbered with post-Halloween hangovers to the streets to cheer on the non-professional athletes participating in the great race. "After struggling my whole life with body issues," one runner explained to me, "being a part of the New York marathon makes me feel beautiful ... knowing that I've set my mind to crossing that finish line has changed my life and the way I've experienced self image." A touching admittance from a woman nearing the tail-end of the 26-mile race on the corner of 86th Street in Manhattan. With 7 miles to go at around 1:30pm, the woman was surrounded with comrades, breast cancer survivors, first-time runners, a woman who beat anorexia through marathon training, blind runners, those with Parkinson's disease, and even runners using arm braces to complete the race. It was one of the most inspiring things that a New Yorker could witness, but less than 30 minutes later, we were forced to stop the cheering.

How To: Slutty Makeup for Halloween

How To: Slutty Makeup for Halloween The slutty Mayflower Pilgrim costume over at Ricky's is a whopping $59.99, and the Pirate Hooker getup is $49.99 on sale. Why not save the dough on an outfit you'll wear only once (in public) when you probably look pretty slutty in the first place? MAC agrees, proving all you need for Halloween is a little makeup to theme your sluttiness. Though the references may be vague, explaining to people that the card drawn over your eye makes you a "poker face" is pretty genius. You'll need an extra couple of hours to ready yourself for the night, a steady hand, and a load of tools, but your final outcome as a pop art piece come to life will be worth it. MAC's helpful how-to videos will ensure you'll get it right, even if you cant draw a straight line.

From Rainy Day Wet Heads to Fête Heads

From Rainy Day Wet Heads to Fête Heads Some people fear hats. They fear them like Ben Barna fears hairy spiders. I can see why -- some hats are very scary. Some just look dumb. But the biggest problem with the whole hat thing is that hats become horrific when people don't own them. Not like they've shoplifted them from Bloomie's, but they don't wear them like the fashion staples they are. They reluctantly smash them down on their uncombed mane to cover up a bad hair day, or deal with the crap weather (today's included). They have a couple of baseball caps, maybe a weird beret of sorts -- none of which really goes with anything they are wearing, and they trudge through their day, convinced they have to scrap fashion for plain function. In a city where the elements are temperamental, hats can be a beauty savior to even the haughtiest of style snobs.

A BlackBook Editor’s Gentleman Beauty Picks

A BlackBook Editor’s Gentleman Beauty Picks BlackBook senior editor Nick Haramis may be one of the biggest beauty junkies I know. He collects more products then he knows what to do with, and he has tried them all. It often goes overlooked, but gents are often more product-savvy (and in many cases, more picky) than gals. Since Haramis has been around the block (the one with a Sephora and a Keihl's), he would know best. This one is for the boys.

Kate Gosselin’s Wig Brings Halloween Hair Scares

Kate Gosselin’s Wig Brings Halloween Hair Scares You know, just the other day I was hoping that someone would satisfy my need for a highly styled coonskin cap. It's time the trademark topper of fashionistas like Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone got a design update and made a comeback. Imagine my excitement when just this morning I found out that the Kate Gosselin wig was available for purchase. The hair chunk is meant to complete your Jon and Kate Plus 8 Halloween costume, but it could do double time to give your '"slutty frontiersman" costume a fashionable update.

Makeup for Mark Ronson, Butter, & Club Kids

Makeup for Mark Ronson, Butter, & Club Kids It's usually nightlife that inspires a guy or gal to get made up, but this is makeup inspired by nightlife. Illamasqua, a cult favorite amongst beauty junkies, club kids, makeup artists, and celebs, was conceived amidst the dark drama of 1920s Berlin -- embraced by alternative cultures, made by a British brand, and now readily available to help you develop your nightlife alter ego. I decided to try the pigment-rich rockstar colors for Friday night's festivities, which included Mark Ronson's Gucci party at the Bowery Hotel, followed by "Whipped," Butter's hipster dance party, to find out first hand why Sienna Miller, Lily Allen, Beth Ditto, and Karen O. are rumored to be obsessed with it.
