Michael Jackson is experiencing the kind of renaissance that happens when an iconic figure crosses over from living breathing legend to idolized, exalted hero dead before his time. And the more that the media digs into his past, the more that we find he truly was one-of-a-kind, a unicorn of a performer -- someone who genuinely seemed to be "motivated by a genuine desire to delight his audience." One such motivation manifested itself in a theme park, one that sadly, never came to fruition. The enchanting Peter Pan Neverland theme park was highly conceptual; in the mockups you could see it was possible to enter the park by "flying" on a magic carpet ride, or by boat, through some mysterious caves. Ahem.

Best Buy executive Armando Alvarez was hosed last Monday when he was denied boarding onto a United flight from Washington Dulles to Connecticut because he was wearing a tracksuit. He showed up for his flight and upgraded his seat at the counter from coach to first, using miles. Once it was time to board, an employee stopped him at the gate and reprimanded him for his dress, saying he was not dressed appropriately for first class and was denied entry, and ultimately, his flight. "I was humiliated," Alvarez is quoted as saying to FOX 5 reporter Will Thomas following the incident. "I was embarrassed and when some of the passengers were boarding behind me they said, 'Hey, what just happened?' And I said the agent just said I wasn't properly dressed to go in first class today. And they said, 'Was he kidding?' I said obviously not because I'm boarding and not getting in first class."

JetBlue had better step up in terms of the frock department. With Delta/Northwest rocking Richard Tyler designs and Cynthia Rowley getting cozy with United, JetBlue is starting to look a little downmarket in the uniform department. Maybe they should go completely avant garde and get Alexander McQueen to design their next set of dress blues. The dresses could come with couture hoods and to-the-floor capes. I'm thinking yards and yards of lace and tulle with studded accents.

In an unprecedented move, Expedia has dropped their phone fee, which is great news for those of us with complicated flight booking needs, or those of us who just prefer to actually talk to someone instead of clicking through a website. As of yesterday, the $20 fee to speak with a real, live agent has been dropped completely. This gives Expedia an edge in both customer service and in cost. Not only can you talk to someone live, it's now going to be cheaper to go through Expedia because most airlines charge ridiculous booking fees over the phone.

The museums in New York want you to come out and play through the winter, and to prove it, they're leaving their doors open late at least one night a week in the hopes of luring the after-work crowd in for some early-evening (that's late-night for them) culture. To make a sweet deal even sweeter, most of the museums are trying to coordinate their later hours with their free admission days, hoping that the broke-but-cute students that show up for the cheap door will lure in the young professionals that might want to hit on said broke-but-cute students. Thank God Las Vegas finally came to its drinking, gambling, and whoring senses and gave up on trying to change its zeitgeist slogan "What happens here, stays here." Out with the family-friendly, wussy slogan the tourism bureau tried to fly with -- "Take a Break" -- and in with the tried and true trampy Vegas. Other forgettable slogans the city tried to pass off as legit siren calls to the city included the utterly boring "Vegas right now" and the kooky-but-still-lame "Crazy times call for crazy fun."

A picture is worth 1,000 words, unless of course, all you want is the words. Enter Evernote, the handy little app that already lets you mumble deep thoughts into your iPhone, recording your musings while tracking and managing any other text you type while out and about. It's one of the better apps for travel because it also tracks text in any photo. This means that you can now search for text within your photos, which comes in handy if you're trying to remember which hotel you stayed at where -- just make sure to take a picture of the hotel's marquee, and you can text-search through your photos to find it.

Looks like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is running it back, this time skinned with a travel angle. Forbes has partnered with the Travel Channel to offer up "Forbes Luxe 11," which will basically prove that once again, money actually does buy happiness -- at least in the form of yachts and ice bars and gorgeous beaches. Each of the ten slated episodes will be a full 60 minutes of upmarket travel porn as you watch the mega-rich golf, swim, and jet around in destinations that you'll never get to in your lifetime.

Two enterprising thieves out of the Phoenix area were recently busted after stealing over 1,000 pieces of luggage from the Phoenix Airport. Keith King, 61, and Stacy Legg King, 38 would sneak around the baggage claim, enter from outside the airport, snake bags, and then take them home to resell the contents. The "ring" (can you have a ring with just two people?) was busted when King was arrested a few weeks back after cops caught him in the airport parking lot boosting luggage clearly not his. After King was arrested, he went straight back to the airport to steal more stuff. Cops followed him home to find hundreds of empty suitcases and booked him on the spot.

A Spanish firm claims that by 2012, they're going to launch a resort in space. Clearly the resort will be only for the mega super rich folk because it's going to cost a pretty penny to get all the way out there. In fact, it will cost so much that even a billionaire could only afford it a little over 200 times. But hey, free velcro suit!
