Christopher Bailey: The James Cameron of Fashion

Christopher Bailey: The James Cameron of Fashion Call it the Avatar effect: Burberry's Christopher Bailey is pulling a page from James Cameron's book. It's invite only.

Burberry’s New Social Network: Attractive, Informative

Burberry’s New Social Network: Attractive, Informative Just a few weeks ago Burberry announced the upcoming launch of its own social network, to be titled The Art of the Trench. The site was originally described as a porthole "initially [to] feature users sending in pictures of themselves wearing Burberry trench coats." But along with the site's launch today comes news that Scott Schuman (a.k.a. The Sartorialist) has been enlisted to photograph trendsetters around the globe sporting Burberry trenchcoats. And apparently Schuman wasn't the only photographer commissioned to do so.

Fashion Week Feeds The Webcrawling Masses

Fashion Week Feeds The Webcrawling Masses If three is a trend then live streaming ones fashion show is as a la mode as comfort clothing and sheerness for SS10. Burberry did it. And Alexander McQueen (who announced his embarkation into the digital world this season via twitter) followed suit. Now, Louis Vuitton is hopping aboard the bandwagon, proving SS10 fashion truly represents the democratization of fashion (as Norma Kamali aptly titled her presentation at Apple's Soho store during New York Fashion Week). The latter's fashion show, set to take place October 7th at 2:30pm (local time) in Paris and will be streamed live on the luxury fashion brand's facebook page.

Check, Mate: Burberry at London Fashion Week

Check, Mate: Burberry at London Fashion Week Christopher Bailey’s latest Spring/Summer collection for Burberry returned to London to seduce the biggest and most celeb-heavy gathering of London Fashion Week.Webcast live from Chelsea, the British fashion icon’s first London show in eight years -- its homecoming from previous catwalk of choice, Milan -- seemingly combined a return to the old alongside an embrace of the new, balancing the brand’s longstanding traditions with a fresh, innovative spirit. All brit celeb-dom worthy of the name were in attendance, from a stickish Victoria Beckham, to soul survivor Marianne Faithful, to Little Britain’s cheeky David Walliams (himself sporting a natty burberry suit), to UK high street fashion mogul Sir Philip Green, and Slumdog Millionaire Dev Patel with co-star and new squeeze Freida Pinto. See full gallery of celebs and styles, then hit the jump for the recap.

Burberry Launches Own Social Network

Burberry Launches Own Social Network Burberry is counting down to its first London Fashion Week presentation in 10 years (and in doing so, serving up behind-the-scenes sneak-peeks for The Moment). But Christopher Bailey and the London fashion house also have another big endeavor on their plate: a new social network. According to Drapers, "the site, Artofthetrench.com, will initially feature users sending in pictures of themselves wearing Burberry trench coats." And, considering Burberry already has 670,000 or so fans on Facebook, generating online interest shouldn't be that hard of a feat.

Fashion Week Forecast: Buy Beauty for Both Seasons

Fashion Week Forecast: Buy Beauty for Both Seasons One of the best things about modern technology is its immediacy. Last night I knew where I needed to be that second to see Daria and Lily having a dance off for Fashion's Night Out thanks to Twitter (they were cutting a rug at Indochine). Likewise, the instantaneous photo uploads from the runways help me plan ahead, save money, and invest in the right beauty products. To really squeeze my dollar, I usually wait to do any kind of fall shopping until fashion week is over, so I can get a good look at what the spring shows boast, in order have some insight into what trends will last. Though the shows have only recently commenced, I've already made a short list of beauty trends that seem to be transcending seasons. Here's a preview what to buy now, judging from the runway faces that will make the easiest transition from winter to spring.

Elisabeth Moss: Mad Style

Elisabeth Moss: Mad Style Elisabeth Moss is a smoldering star on AMC's Mad Men, which happens to be a universe thickly populated with slow burners. As Peggy Olson, Moss fist came across as a clueless naïf in the high-flying world of Madison Avenue in the early 1960s. However, though she seemed like a true tabula rasa in office assistant form, her opaque persona concealed a calculating and at times ruthless ambition. Peggy serves as both foil and reflection for Jon Hamm's Don Draper, and the two embody one of the most nuanced male-female relationships on television within one of the most creatively complex shows on television. On the heels of her own Emmy nomination for best lead actress in a drama -- among 16 other nominations for Mad Men -- Moss talks about awards, life on a "small" show, her devotion to Urban Outfitters, and that thing with Don Draper.

New York Dresses Up for Burberry Day

Don't put away your flags yet kids -- this week just got even more patriotic. Despite all the international fashion week switcheroos going on these days, what with Z Zegna expatting to Milan (or does that count as a homecoming?) taking the spot of Burberry Prorsum after creative director Christopher Bailey moved the show to its native land of London, it's nice to see New York getting a little piece of the love. Tomorrow, May 28, will be known as Burberry Day in the Big Apple, and what better way to officiate such a fete than to change up what may be the most iconic thing about New York City: the skyline.

Beekeepers & Butchers All the Rage on Menswear Runways

Beekeepers & Butchers All the Rage on Menswear Runways “A sense of utility pervades the Paris fall men’s collections,” the New York Times' Cathy Horyn writes on her blog today. There’s no doubt about it -- the work-wear theme has dominated men’s shows in Milan and Paris. And for good reason: With the economy in shambles, showcasing a slick, impeccably styled working man is something everyone can relate to (conceptually, that is). At Thom Browne, as I mentioned last Friday, it was all about carbon-copy office drones, who, despite their day jobs, gave the impression of harboring super powers under their slimly tailored suits. Now it's time to get even more outré with the proletariat.
