More Naked Tees: Chloë Sevigny, Victoria Beckham, Dita Von Teese

More Naked Tees: Chloë Sevigny, Victoria Beckham, Dita Von Teese Weren't lucky enough to land a Marc Jacobs tee emblazoned with a nude Chloë Sevigny the first time around? Don't fret. The designer and arguable mayor of Bleecker Street is reissuing his much loved "Protect the Skin You’re In" line of t-shirts. Thanks to the relaunch, in addition to Sevigny you can now also outfit yourself with fleshy images of Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Dita Von Teese, Doutzen Kroes, or Erin Wasson overlaid with the aforementioned phrase.

Chloë Sevigny & Jason Schwartzman for Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony seems to be getting in touch its inner cinephile. In just this past week the retailer has launched two distinctive cinematic endeavors. One, which debuted just last week in conjunction with the opening of Opening Ceremony's new Shibuya, Tokyo boutique, revolves around Chloë Sevigny's collection for OC. Definitely more in sync with avant-garde cinema than anything Blockbuster would stock, the short film, directed by Joe Danada, includes narration in Japanese (subtitles are in English) courtesy of an absentee robotic voice, as well as disjointed shots of Sevigny getting dressed and anonymous hands assembling some sort of abstract collage.

Opening Ceremony Builds Itself A Little House

Opening Ceremony Builds Itself A Little House Clothing retailer and label Opening Ceremony is opening up a new stomping ground. Specifically, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim's wildly successful LA sister store (their original sits on Hester Street in downtown NYC) is adding on a new wing devoted solely to accessories. The standalone space called "Little House of Accessories" will sit "adjacent to OCLA's innovative 'mini-mall' concept boutique," says a press release announcing the opening, and will stock "bags, shoes, eye-wear, jewelry and more," from a slew of Opening Ceremony designer favorites. Brands will include Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Band of Outsiders, Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Pamela Love, Dr. Martens and Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

NPC Booms & Chloë’s Alright

NPC Booms & Chloë’s Alright The Nightlife Preservation Community event at M2 was by all accounts a smashing success. Thousands of people came out to enjoy the amazing talent. The politicians that came were enlightened as to the realities of the numbers of voters who enjoy nightlife. With over a million names at our fingertips (after overlap it should end up being over 700,000 dedicated names), nightlife will become very political. Politicians who favor fair treatment for the business of clubs, patrons, and hundreds of thousands of employees will have their campaign efforts supported by email blasts. Community groups and government agencies will have access to our names as well.

What’s Next: The Summer Suit

What’s Next: The Summer Suit The feminine/masculine juxtaposition is all the rage in both high and low fashion. Combining a delicate floral dress with a sturdy studded belt or a cocktail mini with combat boots are trends that signify a sense of femininity with authority. In maintaining this concept, the next power move must be the reinvented suit. It’s clear that a well-tailored blazer can top-off any ensemble, but there is a way to bring back the matching slacks without looking over-polished. With the arrival of summer, the suit is making a comeback -- but we’re swapping pants for shorts. Chloë Sevigny has been seen on more than one occasion in her Chloé scalloped-edge blazer and shorts. A look from Jenni Kayne’s Resort 2009 collection redefined the term “business casual” by pairing a classic blazer with high-waisted shorts. Kate Bosworth stepped out in a boyfriend blazer and jumpsuit, presenting another way to suit up an everyday look.

Proenza Schouler Inflames Florence

Proenza Schouler Inflames Florence Last night in Florence, something spectacular happened. At 9pm I boarded a bus that drove through the snaking streets in the hills above the city to the magnificent Villa Grand Petraia, where the boys from Proenza Schouler -- Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez -- staged a fashion-meets-art-world spectacular. The event was held to debut their 2010 pre-spring collection and to launch the new issue of A Magazine the designers guest-edited. And while their traditional fashion shows held in New York every season may be the hottest tickets in town, the duo opted to present their collection with a multimedia extravaganza as they took to the international stage for the first time. Working in conjunction with Pitti Immagine (the organization responsible for Florence's fashionable trade fair that takes place twice a year) and with Art Production Fund, the designers invited three of their favorite artists to present their collection using various mediums.

Bartenders’ Balls

Bartenders’ Balls A long time ago, a very bright guy over at KBA Marketing (Jon Deitlebaum) sat with me, and we came up with the idea of an end-of-year party for club/bar personnel. The Bartenders' Balls were not just a magnanimous gesture from RJR Reynolds (of Camel Cigarettes fame) and the liquor brands that sponsored them, but rather an attempt to project positive thoughts about specific brands into the minds of those pushing them on the street level. Even though the balls -- like all corporate endeavors -- were rooted in greed, the enthusiasm from corporate executives trying to make the event better each year was simply unreal.

The Sky Is Absolutely Falling: Nightlife Preservation Community Launches

The Sky Is Absolutely Falling: Nightlife Preservation Community Launches On June 22, an organization called the Nightlife Preservation Community (NPC) is hosting a huge event over at M2 (formerly Mansion). At stake is preserving nightlife as we know it. The event is a sort of Bartenders Ball kind of thing, open from 9pm to 1am to club owners, club staff, promoters, DJs, and industry-related peeps. The public can come after 1am. Chloë Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne will host the event. DJs including Q-tip, Marky Ramone, Junior Vasquez, Danny Krivit, Peter Rauhoffer, Paul Sevigny, The Misshapes, Louie Vega, Berrie, The Martinez Brothers, Alex English, and more have donated their time and considerable skills for the cause. Admission is by invitation only; there will be an open bar from 9pm to 1am for all, and food for owners in a special section. The purpose of this event is to create a sort of political lobbying front so that politicians take the issues affecting nightlife seriously. With the help of Jon Gabel and Joonbug and the great people of Track Entertainment/ClubPlanet, we are in the process of organizing email and text lists of at least 700,000 people who attend nightclubs regularly. Promoters and marketing entities have millions of names and instantaneous reach to a voting-age clientele. There will be considerable overlap, but we will be able to contact maybe 50,000-plus people in a flash in a district where a friendlier politician is running against a foe. The NPC will be heard, just as other political groups have been suddenly heard in the past.

Saving the Beatrice

imageI attended the "Save the Beatrice" party at the brand spanking new Cooper Square Hotel. Paul Sevigny promised a free save the Bea T-shirt if I came. He has not kept his word. However, he does promise to keep his word to the New York City Buildings Department. A hearing today will clarify what the department will require the Beatrice Inn team to do in order to reopen. Paul promises he's "more than willing to fix anything that is required and to address any issues that they have." I asked him if the joint will open soon, and he replied, "Hell yeah."
