The End of Fashion’s Seasons

The End of Fashion’s Seasons The anti-seasons movement in fashion has been garnering steam for some time. And I'm not just talking about designers putting spring- and summer-appropriate looks (think bare legs and cut-out frocks) on fall runways. A steadily expanding roster of designers are starting to bypass the traditional seasonal structure that the industry has been abiding by for decades: specifically, showing a spring collection up to six months before it actually arrives in stores. Norma Kamali did it this past fashion week, as did Temperly London and BCBG -- all of whom began selling a selection of SS10 looks simultaneously with their premiere on the catwalk. Now, Celine is hopping aboard the bandwagon.

New Christian Siriano for Payless, Steve Madden for the Olsen Twins

New Christian Siriano for Payless, Steve Madden for the Olsen Twins Project Runway alumnus (who will soon be returning to the tube via a new Valentino-esque reality series) Christian Siriano is just shy of the debut of his second collection for Payless. But the photos of his labor hit the web yesterday, promising quite a few very cute, very, very cheap styles for the line's launch in time for the holiday season. Styles include "two pair of flats with zippers on the toes, two boots with gold zipper details, and a pair of black and gold pumps and shiny black strappy sandals, both with little gold zippers up the backs," says Racked. All heels come in an attractive upside-down cone shape and are decidedly more demure than the talon-like shoes that made their way down Siriano's well-received SS10 catwalk. The best part: "nothing's more than $49.99."

Fashion Week: Christian Siriano

Fashion Week: Christian Siriano Not that his debut New York Fashion Week collection last fall didn't affirm his intention to stay in the game, but this time around the exuberance that stomped down Christian Siriano's runway proved that this boy is here to play. The warm, amber-toned collection was a playful, yet dramatic juxtaposition of textures and drapes and tiers that provided an unexpected visual extravaganza.

Project Runway Star Inks Payless Deal

imageChristian Siriano’s career has been on a roll as of late. The collection the 23-year-old (celebrating his birthday just last month) Project Runway winner designed for Bluefly sold extremely well, he's doing costumes for Uma Thurman in her upcoming film Eloise in Paris, and not to mention his maternity line is still afloat. Now the New York Post reports Siriano will debut a line of inexpensive accessories -- shoes and handbags included -- at Payless in the fall of 2009.

Christian Siriano Does Bluefly, NYC Fashion Week

imageIt's been a banner week for Project Runway season four winner Christian Siriano. Not only is he bringing fierceness to the Eloise in Paris movie, but now his collection -- more wearable versions of PR work -- is available for purchase at Bluefly.com. The ready-to-wear line has pieces ranging from jackets ($520) to T-shirts ($96). And as if that weren't enough, Andy Cohen, head of programming at Bravo, revealed during his PR after-show that Siriano will return to Bryant Park to debut his solo collection in September for New York's Fashion Week. Looks like Christian will be enjoying a bit more than the standard 15 minutes onstage.

‘Eloise’ to Get Fierce

imageMuch-beloved children's literary character Eloise will be getting a serious dose of hot-tranny mess-ness from PR winner Christian Siriano come fall. It's been announced that Siriano will design a collection to be featured in the film version of the popular Eloise in ... series of books. Siriano said of the opportunity, "I am honored to be a part of this amazing group of talent! It is a dream to work with legends such as [director] Charles Shyer, Uma Thurman and [costume designer] Milena Canonero on a wonderful story filled with creative inspirations." Siriano and his designs will make a cameo in the climax of the film, taking place at Paris Fashion Week (Naturally!). No word on what the costumes will look like, but expect fierceness.

A Hot Tranny Dress

A Hot Tranny Dress While "In the Heights," "South Pacific" and "August: Osage County" won awards at last night's 62nd annual Tony Awards, the night's fashion had fewer clear-cut winners. But all eyes were on Whoopi's Christian Siriano-designed disaster. We were excited to hear that Siriano would be designing Whoopi Goldberg's dress for the Tony Awards (does winning a reality show equal talent in reality?), but the fierce designer let us down with a hot tranny dress. Whoopi, who's hosted many an award show, was tip-top, and deserved better.

Christian’s Codpiece

Christian’s Codpiece The fashion police are about to get some much needed help from a superhero, courtesy of Christian Siriano. The coiner of catchphrases, winner of reality shows, and new Williamsburg resident, can now add designer to his credits. Oh wait, he’s already that too. Okay, how ‘bout humanitarian? The Project Runway winner has teamed with the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, to design the Fierce Equality Tee, named after the superhero emblazoned on its front. "I’m proud to work with the Human Rights Campaign to raise awareness and funds to help the GLBT community in its fight for equality," says the designer.
