Each spring brings the requisite announcements of summer festival lineups. For each list, desensitization sets in just about five or six acts past the headliners, as they are are all formidable, and all loved. These days, it isn’t difficult for organizers of major festivals to pack their slates with stadium players, Pitchfork-adored art rockers, and cool-kid rappers. Coachella is the standard, of course, but look at the lineups to already-announced fests such as All Points West festival, the Outside Lands festival, and the Pemberton festival. With so many great bills, who cares anymore, right?
