At last May’s Cannes film festival, Martin Scorsese announced a partnership between his own World Cinema Foundation and the online cinematheque The Auteurs to promote a slate of films the Foundation is restoring. Ever since it was announced that Martin Scorsese's next movie Shutter Island would take place at "an institution for the criminally insane" during the 1950s, I've been salivating at the thought of Marty returning to the creepiness he pulled off so well in movies like Cape Fear, Bringing Out the Dead, and even Taxi Driver. Now the movie finally has a trailer, and we get our first glimpse of the gallery of loonies that Scorsese and his team cooked up for us. Everyone in this trailer seems to be hiding something (except for the flawless Mark Ruffalo), and based on just a black and white picture, Emily Mortimer looks like she'll be creepier than the guy in the black cloak who watches me sleep every night. But the biggest crazy of all the crazies seems to be none other than the film's star and Scorsese joy-boy Leonardo DiCaprio. After the jump, some highlights of Leo's bonkers performance.

It's official: Martin Scorsese will soon realize his life's purpose and direct a Frank Sinatra biopic. Though inevitable, this project had to clear the major hurdle of approval from the Sinatra family. The crooner's youngest daughter Tina has said that she would "trust Scorsese implicitly" to "present the truth" about her father. So now that they have their no-brainer director, is their a no-brainer actor to play Ol' Blue Eyes? Ray Liotta played The Chairman in HBO's 1998 movie The Rat Pack, and while a younger Liotta would have been an ideal candidate (since this film will probably chronicle Sinatra's younger years), he's too old and too not-famous-enough-anymore for the part. You know what that means... Speculation time!

The idea must have sounded great on paper: World’s greatest rock band meets world’s greatest director! And indeed, the combined talents of the Rolling Stones and Martin Scorsese should make for a sublimely entertaining concert film. But Shine A Light is instead tedious stuff, like watching someone’s hundred millionth victory lap.
