And some of the human gene pool's finest specimen are legitimately scared of it, like the girly-men they are. But the more important question: Can ghosts affect a sports team's win-loss record?

Houseboat and Railcar Art in Flyover Country

imageI realize that musing on Midwest-based art may not be the most extraordinary way to kick-start the weekend, but sometimes a hankering for tuna casseroles has to trump the seared ahi salad. Besides, events like tonight's free screening of "Who Is Bozo Texino" from artist Bill Daniel make me quite happy to eat my words about Middle America. Showing tonight at the Paper Boat Boutique in Milwaukee, the documentary focuses on hobo graffiti -- mostly around the mythical namesake of the film who has appeared in graffiti art adorning rail cars over the past 80 years.

Openings: Iron Horse Hotel, Milwaukee

imageWe don’t normally find ourselves going, erm, H.O.G. wild for just another designer hotel. But with all the rather irritatingly smoke-free, yoga-friendly boutique lodgings popping onto the scene, it’s about time someone remembered that hotels were once bastions of glamorously anti-social behavior. Encouragingly, Milwaukee’s new Iron Horse Hotel skips all the zen whatever and instead pays tribute to the original bad-boy accessory itself. Directly across from the city’s spanking new Harley Davidson Museum, rooms are done up in an elegant and decidedly masculine sort of vintage modern, with amenities and furniture tailored specific to riders.
