On Monday, it was confirmed that Natalie Portman had been cast in the Kenneth Branagh directed Thor movie, and just last week it was announced that Ryan Reynolds had sewed up the role of Green Lantern. It’s no surprise that in the long wake of Iron Man, stars and studios alike are eager to plant brand new super-hero tentpoles, but how many of these second-string characters are likely to connect with audiences? A quick flip through the trades reveals that there are currently a slew of comic book adaptations in the works, all centered around hero(es) who’re something less than fixtures in the popular consciousness.

I finally took a look at actress Natalie Portman’s new "behind the scenes" web portal MakingOf yesterday. And it turns out the showcase -- which intends to break down the walls of Hollywood heavyweights’ creative processes and inspire younger generations -- is currently hosting a gem of a video, at least in the minds of fashion folk. It’s the closest you’ll come to a behind-the-scenes look at the much-anticipated documentary, The September Issue, which follows Anna Wintour and her various minions as they put together Vogue's iconic September fashion issue. While R.J. Cutler’s film, which follows Wintour within Conde Nast’s walls and beyond, won’t be released until this September, MakingOf captures Cutler revealing quite a bit about the infamous editrix.

If you're a producer, and you're making a movie based on a book called Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry, then you're going need all the star power you can get. But if you're Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman, two producers who also happen to be international superstars on the side, then all the obstacles that "regular" filmmakers must endure just get vaporized by your personal thermonuclear fusion.

Where's Scarlett Johansson when you need her? The only thing that could have improved this short film starring a Natalie-Portman-vs.-Michelle-Williams-catifght was if ScarJo was in the mix dropping elbows, and if director Roman Polanski could've shot the thing in one of those extra long takes he's so fond of. The film is a part of an art project, a faux ad for a faux perfume, and premieres tonight at the Gagosian Gallery in Rome. Since I know most of you won't be able to make that, the good people of the internet have got it for you right here.
