W2W2: What to Wear to Santos’ Party House, as Victim of Circumstance Girl

W2W2: What to Wear to Santos’ Party House, as Victim of Circumstance Girl The Spot: Santos' Party House (Chinatown) - Big, sweaty, hot bi-level boite with sick sound and killer acts for dancing downtown darlings.

Patron Saint of Style: The Victim of Circumstance girl, the most amazing imaginary girl I've ever met, thought up by the creative mavericks behind the Victim of Circumstance line, a division of the contemporary knitwear company Qi Cashmere. Their VOC girl is a made-for-press-releases dream girl, a fake muse who happens to be a freelance fashion photographer living in SoHo and partying at Santo’s, mainly because her hip-hop idol Q Tip from A Tribe Called Quest DJs there (she takes him with a side of Zeppelin and Hendrix). She is also a regular voyeur at The Spotted Pig, Botanica (where she trades stories with Sandy the bartender), the Anchor, and Sweet and Vicious.

Chris Habana’s Pop Icon Homage

Chris Habana’s Pop Icon Homage This fall is gearing up to be a season marked by a flood of Michael Jackson-inspired fashions, as I've said before. But while sequined gloves and studded motorcycle jackets no doubt have a limited shelf life, jewelry designer Chris Habana is presenting a significantly more timeless take on the King of Pop's inimitable style. Set to hit OAK's spinoff retail hub, A.OK., at the store's Bond Street location tonight (an opening party takes place from 6-9pm. and is open to the public) is Habana's "Legends of Pop" -- a limited-edition jewelry series inspired by the recently deceased icon, as well as pop heavyweights like Madonna, Prince, and Boy George.

Future Vintage: LAS Jewelry

Future Vintage: LAS Jewelry Let’s face it: Los Angeles is not a fashion capital. But with year-round perfect weather, who really cares? Still, that doesn’t negate the fact that a large portion of the population limits their clothing options to club- or beachwear, regardless of occasion. If you explore beyond the embellished T-shirts, velour track suits, and flip flops, you’ll find a community of independent designers that transcends the trends by creating real art for the city. Amongst this group are Lisa and Dan Soltis of LAS Jewelry. With her organic design aesthetic and his professional sculpting skills, this LA-based couple creates custom jewelry that fluently balances vintage adornment with modern craftsmanship.

Fashion Week Gets DListed

Fashion Week Gets DListed Michael K of the hilarious "be very afraid" celebrity blog known as DListed knows fashion. In fact, he kills with his posts regarding "basement baby" Grace Jones wannabe Solange ("She's down in her basement right now trying to recreate this shit using an old wooden salad bowl, placements and some busted ass V for Vendetta mask she bought on eBay."), his penchant for Salma Hayek and her "chichis that will save the world," and, of course, his classic obsession for Cynthia Nixon's partner, who he refers to as "Rojo Caliente" (here's why). Considering it's New York Fashion Week, we sat down to get our all things fashion-y chit chat on with Michael K and dished about who will work it out this season and who will be a hot mess.

Your blog is hilarious. Would you ever consider a career in comedy?
A million thank yous, but comedy is not for me. I don't even consider what I do comedy. It's just diarrhea of the mouth, really. And Amy Winehouse hasn't invented a drug cocktail strong enough for me to deal with the kind of stage fright I'd suffer from performing in front of a live audience. That's too hardcore for me.

Fashion Week: Bondage Upstairs, Foot Fetishes Downstairs @ Oak

imageOf all of the fashion week events I've attended so far, last night's bondage-themed Oak party at NYC's infamous gay leather bar, the Eagle, was by far the hardest to get in to. And I'm talking about for those partygoers who had RSVP'd (of which there were rumored to be upwards of 1,000). After a significant wait and a lot of slithering, I found myself inside the three-floor club. While the second floor was thumping with particularly dark and devious dance music courtesy of DJs Justin Miller and Jacques Renault, the rooftop was chock-full of pretty young things -- most of whom had taken the night's bondage theme to heart (in other words, black and leather abounded).
