Debi Mazar Does Entourage

By

Debi Mazar Does Entourage When Debi Mazar walks into Angelini Osteria restaurant in Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that heads turn. The tough yet feminine New York-born actress has had a long career playing roles that leave a lasting impression. Her debut performance as Henry Hill’s coke-snorting mistress in Martin Scorsese’s gangster epic Goodfellas launched a career of daring parts. And it was apropos that she was cast as one of the only women on Entourage, a show with more testosterone than a UFC title fight. It’s been a year’s hiatus since the most recent episode of the show; the boys were last seen at the Cannes Film Festival enjoying tres success with Vince’s latest film Medellin. Where is the show headed Season Five (debuting September 7 on HBO)? Mazar remains tight-lipped, but does offer, “They’re bringing it back to the grass roots of the early seasons of Entourage, where it was really about the guys and their relationships between each other.” As far as Mazar’s character Shauna -- Vince’s sassy and sophisticated publicist -- she says, “Shauna is as bitchy and strong as ever.”

The Next Big Thing: Chris Noth and ‘Sex and the City’ Even among goliath Hollywood blockbusters, Sex and the City is still one of the most anticipated films of the summer. And while Iron Man and Batman try to save the world, Carrie Bradshaw might have an even more difficult feat on her hands -- bagging the commitment-phobic “Mr. Big,” a.k.a. Chris Noth. To Big’s credit, he did man up and do the right thing in the final episode of Sex and the City's television incarnation. He showed up in Paris unannounced, swept Carrie off her feet, and brought her back to her beloved New York and her four best friends. So, where do they all go from here? The worldwide hype for the movie knows no boundaries; iTunes will feature Sex and the City character playlists. “It’s good road trip music,” says Noth of Mr. Big’s picks. After the jump, Noth speaks on Sex and the City, his love of music, humanitarian trips to Cambodia and Vietnam, and his future endeavors.

When the movie Heathers came out in 1989, it was a eureka moment for many teen fans—finally, a dark comedy about high school! Because, let’s face it, high school is dark. Heathers catapulted Winona Ryder’s acting career, and Daniel Waters became one of the most sought-after screenwriters in Hollywood. He went on to write many big budget studio movies like Batman Returns, Demolition Man, and the “loved in Denmark and Spain” Hudson Hawk. Waters’ refers to this chapter in his career as the “failing-upwards-montage.” “I got involved in doing rewrites for big action movies,” said Waters. “I was creating movies that didn’t appeal to the people who liked Heathers and didn’t appeal to action movie fans either. I felt like it was more of a job than actual writing. I said to myself that I had to stop and get back to that warm place of naiveté where I wrote Heathers.” The result: the devilishly dark and wickedly funny Sex and Death 101.
