Travel + Leisure came out with a rather cool feature on their site this summer, but it's not nearly as cool as it could be. The feature is called the "Airport Navigator," and it has detailed lists of hotspots to check out inside airport terminals -- restaurants, spas, shopping, and things to do. Once you click through the listings, you can see ratings and leave comments. The LA Times pointed out that the site could definitely use maps of the terminals, because as it stands now, there are no visual clues about how to get around to these recommended spots. But really, duh -- the Airport Navigator should be an iPhone app.

Mastering the art of a well-heeled West Coast life should include the following: a few down-dogs, perfecting the ordering of a massively complex warm dairy libation (a.k.a. the latte at Starbucks) without a flinch, and knowing where to get a leg-up on life. Whichever you choose to perfect, grasshopper, read the list below and reap the rewards.

● O Lounge (Downtown) - Wanna shoe-in for a fun night? They come in all shapes, heights, makes, and models here. The view is so much better from the top.
● Lift Bar and Grill (Coal Harbour) - The only thing better than watching the floatplanes take off from this yacht-laden enclave is gawking at the folks getting on them in their fabulous shoes.

If you wanna be a hipster, you can wear a checkered lumberjack shirt with gray skinny jeans while you jog, never appear to wash your hair, and eat a raw carrot at a gallery opening. Or you could just hang out at the following Vancouver joints deep in the heart of SoMa -- i.e. south of Main Street.

● Narrow Lounge - If Bungalow 8 is for everyone who's anyone, this hard-to-find dive is its antithesis. Nobody is anybody that comes here, and that’s the point. Struggling artists and such fill the narrow dark space. Look for the red light to show you the way.
● Habit Lounge - Mixing hip with the home-y, the noisy lounge and restaurant is the casa of choice for moody journalists and graphic designers. A simple wine list, Canadian whisky, and modern Canadian food are all anyone can ask for.

● Van Doren @ Elixir at the OPUS Hotel (Yaletown) - This standout server packs incredible knowledge into her tiny frame, and not just about the main dishes. In a quandary about dessert? She's a former pastry chef. Questions about wine? She's a sommelier. And if you're game to try a self- guided wine tour during your holiday, this adorable brainbox knows 'em all and will point you wherever your palate wants to go.
● Jimmy "the Greek" @ Coast (Downtown) - It's his career, and it shows. Old school like few in today's restaurant scene, Jimmy's stories alone would be worth a visit, and despite the au courant design and menu, his classic style of service is a testament to Vancouver's glory days, then and now.
● Corey @ West (South Granville) - Nouvelle service might be a misnomer, but there's also nothing new school about the elegant ballet that takes place every night at top-rated West. No less than three sommeliers are on the floor at every dinner service, but Corey's savvy and great humor earn him laurels from guests for good reason.

● O Lounge (Downtown) - Saffron velvet upholstery and caramel-marbled lightboxes bring LA-style warmth to even the coolest customers.
● Coast (Downtown) - From outdoor fireplaces to seafood tower, Coast's new spot suits downtown swimmingly.

● Steve Nash Sports Club (Richmond) - Hot bod factory for both Silicon (and silicone) Valley types.

● Circa Restolounge (Downtown) - Cocktail-forward menu and multiple fun zones in this massive room.

● The Teahouse (West End) - Stanley Park's most picturesque spot, with unparalleled ocean and sunset views.

● 49th Parallel (Kitsilano) - Where Vancouver’s coffee geeks get serious. Light on outlets, heavy on yoga mats, and you’ll have to hack around for wi-fi. NERD PRO-TIP: If she’s there, barista Mya can point you towards some old-school X-Files landmarks to satisfy your Mulder-and-Scully roleplaying needs.
● Re-entry Espresso (South Main) - Perfectly positioned between a thicket of antique stores, Red Cat Records, and a jumble of sidewalk activity, the espresso drinks and amazing fresh pastries here are great on the go, especially if your next stop is nearby Queen Elizabeth Park.
● Lugz (South Main) - Other places are grab and go, but Lugz is a place to linger. Comfy chairs for wi-fi users, internet stations for the laptopless, and a wide variety of food, beverage, and stimulation. From newspapers large and small to owner Jark’s keen support of local arts, the vibes here will warm you up even if your coffee is iced.
