The trailer for Bored to Death is here, you guys. Sorry, Videogum says that all the time and I just wanted to see how it feels. Anyway, HBO's Bored to Death stars Jason Schwartzman as a Brooklyn writer who procrastinates by stalking the streets as private investigator. We took out our magnifying glass to help examine the 40-second clip for five clues as to what this series will actually be like. The fact that we only came up with three proves just how hard being a detective actually is.
1. Quirky New York darlings play quirky New York darlings on TV: In 40 seconds, Jason Schwartzman has interactions (and make out sessions) with Kristen Wiig, Parker Posey, and Olivia Thirlby. It's like an SNL after-party who's who.
2. Zach Galifianakis is a klepto: Instead of getting busted for the scene larceny he committed in The Hangover, Galifianakis got more famous. The trailer begins and ends with his quippy sidekick, and so might the series. Steal away Zach, you probably can't help it.
3. HBO is returning to New York: But this isn't Carrie Bradshaw's New York. In the last three months, we've spotted Bored to Death shooting in the East Village, Cobble Hill, and Park Slope. And that close-up of the F train to Brooklyn sign? Finally, a show the stroller set can call their own.
