This year’s Golden Globes isn't just getting attention for the dresses and shoes and jewelry and movie stars and, oh yeah, the awards, but also for the unparalleled, swanky dessert menu that uses actual gold. And people are pissed.
Angelina Jolie, Ryan Gosling, the actors from The Artist and a whole bunch of your favorites will be dining on pudding tomorrow night in their designer wares. A far cry from Bill Cosby’s favorite stuff, it's made from chocolate delice, almond crunch terrine, garnished with acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries and will be garnished with edible gold flakes which retail at $135 a gram.
Huger activists are outraged. Joel Berg, of the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, spoke out saying, "I resent that a wealthy society allows its neighbors to face hunger. However, this is an irony that the people who need it least often get free food wherever they go, but we still make it extraordinarily difficult for people to obtain government food benefits."
True. But this is Hollywood, land of excess and things like Paris Hilton. According to celebrity diet rules, none of these people are actually going to eat the pudding anyway. Just think of the calories! The least one can hope for is that some lucky person finds the discarded leftovers in the trash.
