While networks are holding their upfronts this week—previews of the fall season for critics, advertisers and entertainment obsessives to get worked into a frenzy over—cable channels have slowly started letting peeks at their summer line ups be revealed.
And as stoked as we are for the new JJ Abrams what-happens-15-years-after-electricity-dies show Revolution (on NBC), the best peek at upcoming TV we’ve seen so far is the just-released look at the coming season of HBO’s vampire soap opera True Blood.
The show’s fifth season is set to begin June 10, and judging from the trailer things haven’t calmed down a bit in Bon Temps, La., a southern town just lousy with supernatural creatures. HBO (and Law and Order) vet Christopher Meloni, who did time in Oz, will be joining the cast, which already includes Anna Paquin, Aleksander Skarsgard, Denis O’Hare and more.
You’ll see plenty of clips of new-this-fall shows in the coming days, but this is perhaps the only one you really need pay attention to.
